Jack to plant his roots at Forest

News From 25th January 2000

The club are believed to have agreed a £300K deal with David Platt's Nottingham Forest for near-Bosman Town striker Jack Lester.

Forest are reported to have agreed a deal with the club, it is just up to Lester, who only has four month's playing time left on his contract, to agree terms before the March transfer deadline.

The chances are that this will be sooner rather than later, probably before the Friday deadline for player registrations for this weekend's games.

Since the turn of the year Lester has hit three goals in three games (after an appalling strike record earlier in the season, although a notable contribution to the team).

He will be sadly missed by the Town faithful who doubtless will follow his future career with interest.

But with Jack's imminent departure, the chance of who gains the Town fan's now obligatory "super" tag will now probably fall between Allen, Ashcroft and Clare.
