Disappointing decision for the whole town !

Jul 18, 2000 3:18:17 RPLAS@CURRANTBUN.COM ROB PLASKITT GRIMSBY ENGLAND 212.159.146.153
THIS IS A SMACK IN THE FACE FOR THE CLUB AND FOR ALL TOWN FANS.

I think it is a disgraceful decision by the people supposed to represent our views. I think that if nothing is done about it, we should have a massive protest outside the townhall. It helped the few Great coates residents get what they wanted. Well done to the councillors and few residents for putting the knife into GTFC. I hope they are happy when we can be lucky to play the likes of Ilkeston Town(no offence lads) on a regular basis and not just in friendlies. GRIMSBY TILL I DIE.

How come councillors that are town fans where stopped from voting while the councillor for the ward of great coates, who is also a resident of great coates, was allowed to vote. surely this makes him biassed.

As a Mariners fan, and loyal supporter, of more than 40 years, I feel that the local council has done a massive injustice to both GTFC and to the town of Grimsby itself.
I am disgusted at their decision in what was the most advanced project ever undertaken by GTFC, which would not only have secured the future of the club, but the Council has negated the potential additional employment that would have been generated from the whole new stadium project.

As a lifelong Mariner I have been used to many ups and downs, but this attack on all our dreams by a few petty-minded beaurocrats is the sickest blow of all. If we all pull together we can overturn this ludicrous decision, justice will be done.

THIS JUST CANNOT BE REAL ...TELL ME IT'S A DREAM
HOW CAN A HANDFUL OF SO CALLED COUNCELLORS WHO REPRESENT THEIR RESPECTIVE AREAS
ALLOW SUCH AN OPPORTUNITY TO BRING MUCH NEEDED WEALTH IN TO THE TOWN JUST GO BY.
WHERE WERE THEY WHEN GRIMSBY WAS PLASTERED ALL OVER THE RESS & T.V. FOLLOWING THE WEMBLEY SUCCESS - INFACT HOW MANY OF THEM WERE THERE ?
THEY DIDN'T OBJECT THEN I BET !
THERE HAS TO BE A LAW AGAINST HOW A HANDFUL OF ? WELL WHATEVER THEY ARE ..BE ALLOWED TO JEOPODISE THE FORTUNES OF THE TOWN WE ARE ALL SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.
THE INCREASED EMPLOYMENT & PROFIT THE ADDITIONAL COMMERCE WILL BRING...IT COULD BE THEIR SON OR DAUGHTER WHO FINDS EMPLOYMENT AS A RESULT..WHO KNOWS
REMEMBER THE SIGN TWO YEARS AGO AT BRADLEY X ROADS ?
LAST ONE OUT TURN THE LIGHTS OFF !
FOR GRIMSBY - A FOOTBALL CLUB & A TOWN - IT JUST FEELS AS IF THE LIGHTS WILL NEVER COME BACK ON AGAIN
BECAUSE OF A FEW OVER PROTECTIVE SELFISH GT COATES RESIDENTS.LONG MAY YOU BREATHE IN THE POLLUTANTS FROM YOUR NEARBY HEAVY INDUSTRY.BUT YOU WOULDN'T LIKE TO CLOSE THOSE FACTORIES DOWN WOULD YOU ..OH' NO MEMBERS OF YOUR FAMILY WORK THERE !
SO THAT IS DIFFERENT!
OVER A CENTUARY OF FOOTBALL ...JUST BLOWN OUT BY A BUNCH OF SO CALLED DO GOODER

Jul 18, 2000 6:53:55 Paul.GTFC@ic24.net Paul Grimsby 212.111.145.52
To all Coucillor's who voted against the wishes of the majority of the people of the Grimsby/Cleethorpes communinty in deciciding to not allow GTFC to build a new Stadium on the outskirts of Grimsby. I urge you all to resign. I also urge all supporters of the new stadium to take action. If a small minority of selfish, greedy houseowners can influence the council, just imagine what 10 - 12 THOUSAND could do (If we stick together ).Come on all you supporters of the new STADIUM. Lets fight the complete SHAM of a so called DEMOCRATIC vote . This is GREAT Britian we live in not China or Cuba.

In rejecting the stadium scheme local democracy has been shown at its worst, an insult to the very word democracy in fact. Lay Members totally disregarding the professional opinion of their own executives and manipulating the voting rules by excluding football fans and ignoring the views of the majority of the local population that supported this scheme.
