The Lennies Lost It Debate
FRED:
Lets face it Lawrence has lost the plot
BERT:
I'll admit we had an off day but you can't make sweeping judgements after one bad game
FRED:
ONE bad game! There have been plenty of others Bert, and this one against the bottom of the league was vital.
BERT:
Where do you see the problems then?
FRED:
Firstly the team played like eleven individuals. The defence was square and inefficient with the Zhang especially playing the offside trap like a beginner.
BERT:
So you blame Lennie for Zhang then?
FRED:
Yes I do. Zhang played midweek in Italy and had a delayed flight back and then went straight into a team with Handyside and Smith available. Poor selection. Zhang should have been rested. As it was he took his rest during the game.
BERT:
We had a lot of the ball against Crewe
FRED:
And we did nothing with it. It was Buckley all over again. Get near the box and then lose the ball. We play as though the pitch is only half as wide as it is. We don't try to get down the wings and cross. We have no-one running into space. You see a hard worker like Campbell win a midfield ball and look up to see no-one asking for the damned thing next.
BERT:
So it's poor tactics then?
FRED:
Poor tactics and poor team selection. Do you realise we have over thirty professionals on the books now?
BERT:
It is quite a few
FRED:
It's a joke. We should sell ten and buy two good ones with the saved wages. The great teams of the past had a settled team. Our lot don't know whether they are coming or going each week or what language they are speaking to the next player on the pitch. We saw that on Saturday and I think the players are feeling it too.
BERT:
How do you mean the players?
FRED:
I mean they are starting to look a bit cheesed off with it. They started on Saturday at 80% ands went down. Where wasa the enthusiasm, the fighting grit, the desire eh? I tell you mate, we've lost the plot, and a low crowd of 4500 told the same story.
BERT:
Well I hope you're wrong.
