Kevin Jobling Good old Jobbers! One of the most consistent players of this era along with John McDermott. Whether at right back, left back or in central midfield, Jobling would always give his all. One of his greatest moments was that thunderbolt of a goal away at Bolton in 1994! Anyone remember it? 25 yards, left foot, top corner, wham! When it was announced on Radio Humberside everyone in my house didn't believe it! Yet another blunder by Radio Humberside! But for once, they had not made a mistake.

Jobling actually scored 3 goals in his final season and two from central midfield, where my Uncle always said was his 'proper position'! He was rightly given his testimonial after ten years service we so rarely see in football today, when a Grimsby XI hosted Leicester City at Blundell Park.

Next Player: Ian Hamilton
