FORMER Grimsby winger John Oster has been linked with a return home to Blundell Park. The talented Welsh international is out on favour at Stadium of Light and told the press that he would be prepared drop a division in order to play first team football.
"I'm happy to play for a First Division club. It wouldn't bother me dropping down a division. I just want to get my sharpness back," said the Boston-born player.
Meanwhile is it believed that the Grimsby boss has a place available for Oster, although the club cannot pay the highest wages. There is room for a new left winger at the club, but it's thought that Lennie Lawrence will try to loan Kevin Ellison from Leicester when he is sufficiently fit to do so.
Oster played mainly on the left wing for the Mariners until his transfer to Everton in 1997, but it should also be said that he has played mainly in central midfielder for the Toffees and for Sunderland since that time.
