Groves Says "I Want Lee Sharpe"

FORMER Manchester United winger Lee Sharpe could sign for Grimsby Town if he is prepared to take a massive pay cut says Paul Groves who has confirmed his interest in him but says that any deal would be dependent on Sharpe's wage demands.

The Grimsby Telegraph reports today that Sharpe is on around £10,000 a-week at Valley Parade and will not be offered a new deal but that is too high a price for the Mariners.

Groves will have to convince him to take a third amount of that if he wants to play for Town who have set a strict wage structure. "The player has been put to me by an agent, but any deal depends on how realistic the player is in terms of money or what offers he gets elsewhere," said Groves.

"He's somebody who would come into the category that we're looking for and he would strengthen the squad. We're interested in quality first division players and I'm not going to rule out a move for anybody."

Presently Sharpe is understood to be considering other offers from America.
