Town Sack Eight More!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 05/06/2002

AFTER last Friday's announcement that Town's Director of Youth Ian Knight's contract would not be renewed the club have announced the sacking of eight coaches from the club's School of Excellence.

Mariners Net, the official site states: "It is a further indication of the cost-cutting process which has been instigated at Blundell Park, although this decision has come on the back of the uncertainty still surrounding the grant for the youth set-up, as much as the loss of television income.

The club has heard nothing so far about the new level of funding for the youth system and the sackings are a precautionary measure. The coaches were given statutory notice pending confirmation of the grant award which, depending on the level of the award, could result in all or some of the coaching staff being re-employed within the newly re-structured youth system at Grimsby Town.END
