Taylor Explanation

GRIMSBY Town clarified today the position of Robert Taylor and his future with the Mariners after reports that he was with another club.

The gaffer, Paul Groves, told the OS: "We told Robert that as soon as he is fit he can train with us, because last Monday he couldn't even jog so he couldn't be picked for the squad"

Groves went on to say "we're not paying him any wages at the moment, but if he played for us it would be on a match to match basis."

As for the connection with Colchester Utd. Groves said "Taylor it free to try other teams as we're not paying him but I'd be surprised if he was fit enough to play. We know what a fit Robert Taylor can do and in the right condition he is worth having."

Grimsby Town CEO Ian Fleming added "At the moment we hold Robert's registration but if he chose to play for Colchester, we would not put any barriers in his way.
