The Fishy - Grimsby Town FC

Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

We Must Win Says Groves!

Paul Groves says he wants Town to gain their maiden home win this season when they face Port Vale at Blundell Park tomorrow. Forget about the Doncaster game and get on with the league games is the order of the day.

He names an unchanged side from the one at Doncaster and feels the team is good enough to beat anyone in the division if they set their minds to it.

He told the Grimsby Telegraph; "We're looking to get off to a good start at home and get our first win under our belts. It's going to be tough because they had a good win last week against Bournemouth. They'll be looking to build on that and they won't be coming here to lie down. But I'm not concerned with them. I'm concerned with us."

"If we get it down and pass like we can then we can give anyone problems and create opportunities against anyone."

"Against Doncaster we were just starting to get it down and control the game when the incidents happened. We were causing problems and we need to do more of that."

"They want to impress the home crowd. The downside of that is that they might try too hard instead of relaxing and playing the football they're capable of. They have to be composed and big enough to play the ball about like we know they can."

"The home form is massive in any season but we want to improve on last year. That's important to us and is something that doesn't change from season to season."

Groves looks to name the same side for three consecutive games. "I think you'd have to go back to when we first came in to find when that last happened. It's important that we get continuity in the side. There will have to be changes through injury or suspension eventually, but we need continuity, especially with so many new faces."

Grimsby Town: Davison, Cas, Ford, Crane, Barnard, Crowe, Campbell, Hamilton, Anderson, Boulding, Ten Heuvel, Pettinger, Edwards, Rowan, Groves, Mansaram.
