FORMER Mariner Terrell Forbes has joined League One outfit Oldham Athletic, signing a two year contract with the Latics. The central defender joined Grimsby midway through last season during a high-profile court case, in which all charges were subsequently dropped.

The former QPR defender told the Oldham Official Site: "This signing is a blessing in disguise and I am looking forward to coming to the club and getting my head down."

Forbes won the Player of the Year award at QPR and Supporters Player of the Year award at Blundell Park. "I have been on a roll this year with awards and hopefully the fans here will get behind me and we can concentrate on promotion. I am a hard working man and I just want to get myself ready for June 27th and pre season," said Forbes.

"I enjoy playing right back, that's my best position. At Grimsby I have been playing centre of the three, but I don't mind as long as I am on that pitch playing football."

  • Another former Grimsby defender Ronnie Bull is now on trial at Wycombe after Town failed to offer the former Millwall defender a new contract.
