Who's Your Hero?! |
September Player of the Month

HERE we are into the second full month of this season and Town are doing enough for us the supporters to forget about last season's poor form. The squad that Russell Slade has put together has a lot more depth than last year's and hopefully will finish further up the League Two table this season.

Here are the six nominations for September's player of the month award:
Steve Mildenhall. Signed from Oldham Athletic in the summer. Steve had his best game against Spurs where he proved what a signing he is for the forthcoming promotion push, and will follow in a long line of great goalkeepers who have played between the sticks at Blundell Park.
Rob Jones. So far this season he's the front runner for the Fishy award, injury permitting, and has improved his game by 100% this season. The former Stockport defender is also a threat in the opponent's box, and has already scored four goals this season.
Jean Paul Kamudimba Kalala. Was an unknown foreign import who Town took a gamble on, but has already proven he can do a good Job for Town in midfield. The goal against Spurs ensured JPK's photo was on the back page of every paper for two days.
Paul Bolland. Left Notts County in the summer due to a contractual dispute and their loss was Grimsby Town's gain as "Bolly" has proven the lynchpin of our team this season, something we missed last season in the midfield engine room.
Michael Reddy. Has had a injury-packed career and after having a period of time playing in the Premiership for the Black Cats, Michael could be playing in a higher league again next year having proven his worth both scoring and creating goals for the Mariners this season.
Martin Gritton. Was bought from Torquay last Christmas and what a present Town got themselves as Martin has proven his partnership with Reddy could be Grimsby Town's saviour in this division. Not worried by throwing himself about when the team needs him to.

06/09/2005 | Chester (a) | 2-1 | Kalala, Reddy |
