Town Reap Cash Benfits From Sky!

CHAIRMAN John Fenty revealed today that Grimsby Town will benefit from a net cash injection of £130,000 from Sky TV for the Mariners' glamour Carling Cup ties with Tottenham and Newcastle.

But while the chairman acknowledges it is a big boost to the Mariners' coffers, he says that the club still have a lot of work to do to discharge the £720,000 Inland Revenue debt, which was a direct result of the collapse of ITV Digital

"We have a repayment schedule to meet and we clearly have to keep up those payments. The Sky money is a massive boost to the overall debt but we are not out of the woods yet."

"The repayment schedule before us will take us sometime into next year."

"We've obviously got to keep up the good work and we hope that everybody continues to support the Keep the Mariners Afloat initiatives."END

With the fees from Sky and the increased gate income, the two cup ties have been just what the club wanted. If Town can also get a good run in the FA Cup, it will go a very long way to ease the pressure on the club coffers.
