Who's Your Hero?
Who's Your Hero?

October Player of the Month

By: Tony Hamilton
Date: 13/11/2005

AFTER last month’s antics Town have moved back to the League game where the bread and butter of its game and funds rely on, so here’s the six nominations for this month’s player of the month are

Home > 2005-2006 Season > Player of the Month > October

Here are the six nominations for October's player of the month award:

Steve Mildenhall - Goalkeeper

Steve has been the backbone of Town's defence (one of the best in the all four leagues) and is a much better goalie than the one we had last season. Could have a chance of being Player of the Year while big Rob Jones is getting over his injury.

Rob Jones - Defender

Rob’s form has been out of this world but now is derailed due to a groin injury which will keep him out for 3-4 weeks depending on how the operation goes, so this will give all the other Town players a chance to catch up in the voting

Paul Bolland - Midfielder

Bolly’s form has been top notch so far this season and is an unsung hero in the midfield department, his partnership with JP Kalala will determine how Town’s season will unfold and if Grimsby are good enough for promotion this season

Martin Gritton - Forward

Has fallen down the pecking order having been given a first team chance earlier in the season. Gritts will find it hard unless he decides to fight for his place but being in the right frame of mind will prove an asset this season

John McDermott - Defender

In his last season at Grimsby Town Macca will look back at his career and wonder what he could have done if he never had the Mariners at heart. If you ever wanted to show a role model to younger players you could always show them Macca’s picture and remind them what loyalty means to soccer.

Tom Newey Defender

Tom has been inconsistent this season but if he gets his form back will fight with Gary Croft for the left side position in the team whether it be left wing back or left back. Was released by Cambridge due to their relegation to the Conference
