Jones Ahead of Target

TOWN'S player of the season so far, Rob Jones, is hoping to be back sooner than expected following a recent hernia operation.
The big centre back limped out of the FA Cup match with Bristol Rovers, but could be back as early as the Rochdale game on Dec 6th.
The former Stockport defender told the Grimsby Telegraph: "I did some light jogging yesterday and hopefully will carry on doing that for the rest of the week.
"I am keen to get back as quick as possible and the doctors told me that 75 per cent of players who have the same operation are back within three weeks.
"But next week will be the big test when I start doing some ball work - then we'll see how I am getting on."
With Jones at the heart of the defence, Town's rearguard have been the meanest in League Two this season. Fortunately Grimsby had Simon Ramsden waiting in the wings to replace Jones at the weekend, and the Mariners managed to record three points against Macclesfield minus their star defender.
"It was tough for me to watch on Friday, not just because it was against one of my old teams but because I am a terrible spectator - especially when it's my team", said the Stockton-born six footer.
"But it was nice to see the lads doing well - even though it may make it harder for me to get back in.
"I thought Rammers had a good game and it shows the strength in depth we have."
Town's next big test is against unbeaten Wycombe, including their nemesis Tommy Mooney, at the weekend.
