Crane set for Worksop

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 03/01/2006

DEFENDER Tony Crane has almost agreed to a new deal which will see the 23-year-old leave Blundell Park before his three year contract is up in the summer. The Liverpool-born centre back, who is the second longest serving player after John McDermott at the club, looks like joining Worksop.

Crane, who has failed to live up to his potential during three years at Blundell Park where he was beset by disciplinary and injury problems, has been granted a free transfer by the Mariners. Worksop are currently mid-table in the Conference North and the Nottinghamshire outfit attract crowds of a few hundred.

Meanwhile Russell Slade is still looking to bring in one or two new faces during the January transfer window, as Town look to strengthen their squad in a bid to secure a promotion place.
