Luton Reddy to Strike

UNCONFIRMED reports from Luton indicate that the Hatters have offered an initial 325K for Town striker Michael Reddy, rising to 400K on appearances. We will find out tomorrow whether the offer is genuinie and has been accepted, although Town have consistently denied that the Irishman is for sale.
Whether this is a genuine offer and Luton will raise their bid on the final day of January and try to persuade Grimsby to cash in on their best player - and risk not winning promotion to League One - is the big question.
Chairman John Fenty denied that Reddy would be leaving Grimsby at last month's AGM, and manager Russell Slade as recently as today emphatically stated that Reddy would be going nowhere.
The Irishman is under contract at Blundell Park until May and Town have the option of a further year, which they almost certainly will take up.
The transfer window slams shut at the end of January, and no club is allowed to sign any more players on a permanent basis after Tuesday until the end of the season.
Monday was a frantic day at Blundell Park with fringe striker Martin Gritton joining rivals Lincoln City, and Simon Ramsden moving to Rochdale.
Tuesday promises to be even more dramatic.....
