GRIMSBY are hoping to sign 24-year-old Swansea left-sided midfielder Marc Goodfellow shortly before tonight's transfer deadline. The versatile Englishmen, who can also play up front, has also been on the books of Bristol City and Stoke to date in his career.

Goodfellow (5'10"), who has an excellent scoring record from a career largely spent in midfield, is hoping to arrive at Blundell Park this evening and is hoping to sign on the dotted line before the deadline.

The former Potter has been a semi-regular player at the Liberty Stadium this season making 13 appearances, and will go down in history as the first player ever to score a goal in the Swan's new ground after he netted during a pre-season friendly against Fulham in the summer.

It concludes another busy day for the Town boss Russell Slafe who also today signed Gary Cohen on a permanent contract for an undisclosed fee. The speedy winger has been on a season-long loan from Scottish Division Two leaders Gretna. His new contract will keep Cohen at Grimsby until at least the end of next season.

Former Viking Stavanger midfielder Tommy Taylor has departed the club after failing to make an impact and not even making the bench in his five months at Blundell Park. Taylor joins fringe players Simon Ramsden and Martin Gritton through the exit door, who have also departed for pastures new.
