Lincoln Match Ratings

GOOD teams show the character and resilience to overcome adversity and that's what the Mariners did on Tuesday night against Lincoln in what proved to be the penultimate game of the season.

Mildenhall Didn't have a awful lot to do to be honest but still was solid. His parry from a Yeo blast was comfortable but still well saved. Mildy will be slightly disappointed with the defending that led up to the goal and that no-one reacted which was disappointing but not vital. All in all a decent display. 7

Croft Outstanding to be honest. Got up and down the wing on frequent occasions and possibly handed in his best display since he re-signed. A very good performance from Crofty who has shone at the end of the season and deserves his plaudits. Though despite this will Slade go for Croft or Macca for the biggest game of the season? 9

Newey Another good display from Newey who did well at both ends and defensively was spot on. Came very close with an in-swinging free kick which looked destined for goal. A decent display which will seal his place in the team at Cardiff. 8

Rob Jones Was missed after when he was off the pitch with a cut which resulted in a goal. He won most balls and did well during the time he was on the pitch. Futcher or Jones at Cardiff, who do you pick? 7

Whittle Superb. Battled and was solid throughout. Definitely compliments a big central defender whether it is Futcher or Jones. Has really turned it on at the right time for Town which should se a new deal for the skipper. 9

Cohen Slightly disappointing and will not play in my eyes if Gary Jones' red card is rescinded. He failed to make a impact on the game which could rob him of a deserved place in the play-off final team. No quality but still a good season. 6

Parkinson Another very good display from Parky who turns it on for the big occasions. A very positive display but still feel as if he needs to pull the trigger more. Good. 8

Bolland Grafted and did his job in defending the backline with the presence of Forrester, Robinson and Yeo around. Doesn't get the credit but does the job. 8

Woodhouse Another decent display and will be a big blow when Rocky quits. He offers Town cracking deliveries, decent passes and a link up player who would have sealed automatic promotion for us in my opinion if he was here from the start. 8

G.Jones Is there a game where he is never involved? Firstly he missed a great opportunity to connect onto a Woodhouse ball which looked destined for goal. Then he confirmed the Mariners' presence in Cardiff with a fantastic header powerfully blasted over Marriott, before elbowing Gareth Mcauley straight in the chops and put himself in the stands at Cardiff. Very much doubt his card will be rescinded as Dean is really just happy to get the attention which showed in the way he flapped the card out. Unlucky Gary but that's football.

Mendes Worked his socks off again all game and I still feel he could really fire the goals in next year. Didn't looked overly aware in the final third but his passion and desire more than makes up for that. Sill fancy him to get the winner at Cardiff and surely he's worth a tenner? 8

Subs:

Ben Futcher What a turn around! From 'donkey' at the Sincil Bank 5-0 drubbing to fantastic in the first leg and then superb in the second. Tucked away his goal very nicely and put in another top display. A really impressive performance though I feel he will not start at Cardiff because of Jones. Top notch! 9

Toner Not much impact but still gave his all. 6

Reddy The Reddy distraction caused a lapse in the Lincoln defence but apart from that he did very little apart from knock and run. It made me laugh though at those idiots who wished him on after twenty minutes. One man team or what? 6
