GRIMSBY Town striker Michael Reddy has emerged as a key summer target of Carlisle United boss Paul Simpson according to the Bristol Media.
But the reports says that the Cumbrians will face strong competition from Bristol City for the former Sunderland trainee who was carried off after being knocked unconscious following a clash of heads in Grimsby's 1-0 League Two play-off final defeat against Cheltenham at the Millennium Stadium on Sunday.
Reddy still has a year remaining on his contract at Grimsby, and it is not expected he will be sold off cheaply with Bristol City had a reported £300,000 bid turned down in January.
Reddy has already had preliminary talks with both United and Bristol City it is claimed.
If Reddy does move, it would be good to the club if there was a bidding war but he would be a great loss to the Mariners as we are now back to trying to escape from League two.
Reddy signed a two-year deal at Grimsby, but the club had the option of keeping him for a third year if they finished above 12th in the table this season. They have taken up that option and are likely to demand a six-figure fee for him.
