Friday News Round-Up

GRIMSBY Town captain Justin Whittle has signed a new one year contract which keeps the 35-year-old at Blundell Park for another season. With Croft already under contract and Newey expected to sign a new deal, next season's defence is taking shape.

Whether Macca's position next season is as a player or a coach probably depends on whether Graham Rodger can persuade his first choice assistant, believed to be Paul Wilkinson - currently Reserve Team Coach at Cardiff City - to join him at Blundell Park. If he doesn't get his man then Rodger may turn to McDermott as a natural alternative to Wilkie.

A further question mark hangs over the goalkeeper position as Steve Mildenhall is still pondering his future at Blundell Park. Town have offered the 28-year-old a new contract, but he is a free agent, and the Swindon-born 'keeper may choose to follow Russell Slade to his native West County. A decision is expected shortly from Mildenhall.

  • Season tickets for go on sale from 9am on Monday from the Blundell Park ticket office. Existing season ticket holders should receive their renewal forms in the next few days after they were dispatched on Thursday to all 2,400 holders. Season ticket prices have been frozen at last year's levels and compare favourably to those of other League Two side, especially junior prices.
