Boshell: MOM |
Bore Draw

GRAHAM Rodger and assistant Stuart Watkiss made wholesale changes from the team that embarrassed us at Bury. Gary ‘Lump’ Jones was replaced by Michael Reddy while new boy Danny Boshell replaced Gary Harkins. Most surprisingly though was the omission of Peter Bore for Beagrie.

Bore had impressed and arguably been man of the match for most of the games this season while Ciaran Toner, who has failed to impress, kept his place - to eventually prove me wrong and score Town’s goal!
To be quite honest the first half was appalling. The ball was constantly lost by both sides as Macclesfield, with their 57 fans, looked to leave Blundell Park with a point.
And when I say the first half was poor, I mean poor. Though despite this the Mariners took the lead on eighteen minutes thanks to a push on Danny Boshell. The previously poor Ciaran Toner picked up the ball and sent the 'keeper the wrong way to give the Mariner’s an undeserved lead.
Town should have then gone at a poor Macc Town side but failed to do so as both sides hung on with no further goals or action in the first period.
HT: Town 1-0 Macclesfield - Only 45 More Minutes to go!
At half time unsurprisingly neither side made any changes. Though Macclesfield did make a change - they decided to play and within three minutes of the second half they were level. The Official Site called it a moment of magic, I call it poor defending. The ball came to the right as Macclesfield went towards Barnes’ Osmond goal and was whipped in only for an unmarked Andrew Teague to glance the ball past a rooted Barnes. Would this have happened if Whittle was in the side?
Town almost hit back immediately as Toner on the right was sent back a cross for a flying Danny Boshell to power his header straight at the keeper from eight yards. Anywhere else and the shaky Macc keeper was beaten.
Town finally changed it after seventy minutes with Peter Bore coming on for Beagrie and G.Jones for Reddy. Reddy, who goes under the knife next week, was booed off by the Mariners' faithful.
Minutes after these changes Macclesfield almost took the lead as McNeil out sprinted Fenton only for his scuffed finish to be collected by Barnes.
The crowd’s tempo was really up now as the Mariners searched for the illusive winner.
Nothing more came of this poor game though and if Town are going to get out of this mess Rodger needs to seriously consider his tactics and gain the players' respect as today they were just not good enough again.
Man of the Match - Danny Boshell - Battled hard and could be a decent player.
