Steve Slade

Veteran forward who came out of the wilderness for two weeks and then disappeared again. Steve Slade started his professional career with Tottenham Hotspur in July 1994 and went on to make 8 appearances for the club, without scoring until his £350,000 move to Queens Park Rangers in August 1996 following QPR's relegation from the Premiership.

Slade played for Rangers until the end of the 1999/2000 season notching up over 60 appearances, scoring 6 times, he also made 4 appearances on loan with Brentford in that time.

Then came an unsuccessful move to Cambridge United where he failed to establish himself and left after 3 months to join non league Hayes.

Hayes released Slade at the end of the 2000/2001 season and following a few years playing in the lower southern divisions in England, he moved to Iceland to play his football before re-emerging on trial with Grimsby in the 2005/2006 season. Slade was cleared to play in the LDV Vans Trophy match with Morecambe despite being only a trialist.

His game lasted no more than 50 odd minutes before being replaced by Jermaine Palmer. Slade didn't earn himself a contract and was let go by The Mariners. His next reported club was Maidenhead United, after that he seems to have disappeared again!
