Beat the Bookies: Week 2

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 17/08/2007

LAST week's result of Wycombe 0 Accrington 1 was ironic given that Beat the Bookie's tip was for Wycombe to get promoted and Accrington to get relegated. Nonetheless there is a very long way to go yet!

Every match in League Two this week is incredibly tight according to the bookies. Rochdale are the only team in the division who are odds on to win with Bet365, so there should be a lot of draws this weekend, as there was in the opening set of games as it happens.

Grimsby are away at Bury. The only recommended bet in that game is Ryan Bennett to score the first or last goal, both of which are available at 50/1 with bet365. Odds of 6/5 for a home win and 9/5 for an away win do not tempt, and 9/4 for a draw looks the best bet.

With no bets standing out in either League One of the Championship, this week we turn to the Premiership. Sunderland have made a good start (by their standards) under Roy Keane, and this week go to Wigan, who could struggle this season. bet365 offer 2/1 for an away win.

Recommended Bets

  • 1. Sunderland to beat Wigan (2/1, bet365).
