The Mariners have now acquired that all obscure foremost league victory that they so badly needed and look to improve on this with a win over Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday night. Town's recent form against the Trotters has much to be desired, but our lads always rise to the occasion. The team is up for this one and ready to get the black & white people eater into gear...
Town's stalwart Steve Livingstone scored in just 66 seconds to give the boys their first win of the season against Gillingham at Blundell Park on Saturday. Livingstone elevated John McDermott's cross over, an advancing, Vince Bartram to score the only goal of the game, concluding a 16 match run devoid of a win for the Mariners.

But Gillingham, who collected their first win of the season last weekend, went on to dictate much of the game, apart from the last 15 minutes were town looked like a team, and will wonder how they weren't successful in at least taking a point from this encounter.

Bolton Wanderers; the proverbial power house are already showing the signs, even at this stage of the season, of championship form.
The Trotters manager Sam Allardyce must be grinning all over after picking up another three points at Huddersfield last saturday. Super sub Michael Ricketts produced two second half goals to vanquish their Yorkshire neighbours in a five goal thriller at the McAlpine stadium.

It was unlucky for the Terriers in this Wars of the Roses clash with them enjoying the better of the first half chances and really could have gone into the break ahead. All that turned around during the second half, not least once the Wanderers boss had chucked Ricketts into the fray.
