The Fishy - Grimsby Town FC

Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby be next season?

Nielsen D-Day

After reports in both the English and Danish national press linking David Nielsen to a top English Premier League side, it remains uncertain whether or not the striker will be signing for Grimsby. Manager Lennie Lawrence has insisted that if the deal is not done today, it will not be done at all.

Weekend reports suggested that Aston Villa boss John Gregory is ready to swoop for David Nielsen as he looks to strengthen his forward line at Villa Park, although these reports are as yet unconfirmed. Lawrence told Nielsen earlier this week that if an agreement had not been reached between the two parties by today (Monday) at the very latest, then the proposed transfer would be scrapped. The 24-year old striker, currently under contract with FC Copenhagen, has scored 5 times for the Mariners in his 12 starts since arriving at Blundell Park in October. Updates on this story will follow throughout the day.
