Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby be next season?

Rotating Daws!

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 13/03/2004

VETERAN defender Paul Warhurst has become Nicky Law's third signing of the week, joining Alan Fettis and John Thorrington through the rotating Blundell Park doors. On-loan Rotherham midfielder Nick Daws, however, has been recalled by the Millers for their squad against Derby tomorrow.

Utility player Warhurst has enjoyed a 15-year career mainly in the North, including spells at Oldham, Bolton, Sheffield Wednesday, Blackburn and Palace. In recent times he has had brief spells with Chesterfield, Barnsley and Carlisle United. He joins Grimsby on a non-contract basis, and is expected to stay at the club until the end of the season.

As none of the three new players signing by Law in the last two days have been short-term loans, the Mariners still have two remaining loan slots left this season, which no doubt will be used up at some later stage of the campaign.

Nick Daws, who only had a few days left on loan, was grateful for the chance of First Team football at Blundell Park: "I have enjoyed my stay here. I'm now going back to Rotherham to try and win my place back. I've loved playing football and am glad to have done that at Grimsby," Daws told Mariners Net.

All three signings are expected to feature in the game with Bournemouth tomorrow.
