Law Signs Two Players And Crane Sees Red!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 11/03/2004

ALAN Fettis, as expected, has signed for the Mariners today. The Hull City keeper will be coming to Blundell Park on loan from the Tigers until the end of the season.

Nicky Law has also signed John Thorrington on a free transfer from Huddersfield until the end of the season. Thorrington previously played for Manchester United and Huddersfield Town.

A skilled midfielder who can adapt to several different positions, John Thorrington is undoubtedly a talented player - blessed with electrifying pace and plenty of enthusiasm for the game where he was usually stationed wide on the right for Huddersfield Town.

Along with Leon Knight, John terrorised Division 2 defences during the 2001/2002 season and, but for injury problems, Thorrington might have helped Huddersfield through the play-offs.

Position: Midfielder
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 10st 10lb.
Born: October 17, 1979.
Hometown: Palos Verdes, Calif.

Paul Warhurst, the former England, Blackburn and Man City defender is training with the Mariners today, with a view to getting an offer.

An experienced utility player,Warhurst started his career at Maine Road and, after a spell at Oldham Athletic, moved to Sheffield Wednesday where he made his name as a creative, attacking player.

  • In other news Tony Crane was shown the red card during the reserves game in the Pontins Holiday League Cup. Kirk Wheeler was also sent off.

This is the third card for Crane this season and with Town's perilous position due to injuries, his apparent lack of control is not what the club needs.

Maybe Nicky Law can do what Groves and Rodger failed to do and that is, either stop him or sack him!
