Quoted from Mariner_09
            McKeown
East Toto Pearson Robertson
Arnold Diz Brown Monkhouse
         Bogle Amond

Bench: Gowling, Clay, Marshall, Mackreth, Pittman

I still believe Brown is a better footballer than Clay, his touch is better, he is more tenacious and is more mobile.
Toto will only get better by playing more games and East looked like a class player playing at right back last week.

Brown isn't as good a footballer as Clay IMO. Gets caught in possession too often, tries to do a Cruyff turn and gets tackled, add to that he hasn't looked in very good shape since his original injury at the beginning of last season. Clay every day off the week for me.

I doubt that Brown will be playing for us much this term, but Clay is on great form so should stay imo, Robinson is good for cover and a fresh pair of legs maybe...

Has to pick Clay purely because he is more physical and its bound to be a physical contest. Amond must, I repeat MUST START. You have confidence in him that when he bears down on goal, he will bury it, a bit like Liam Hearn just not as quick or good on the ball. East looked a class act at left back and the team has a much greater balance with a right footed player at right back and the same on the left.

Might be unfair to judge him too quickly but Robinson does not look half the player Clay is. Yes, he might not be fully fit but can we afford to wait 2/3 games to see the best of him? Clay had had his wings clipped (if that was the intention) back to the team below for Saturday-

                                Macca
East            Pearson           Gowling            Robertson

Arnold         Dis                    Clay                 Monkhouse

                   Bogle                Amond

Subs- JP, Marshall, Robinson, Tait, Venney (assuming Toto is unfit)

Spot on!!!

Not only with the 11 but with the comment about Robinson....  saw on Saturday that he has great vision, weight of pass and can play and credit to him as after the OG and a poor 1st half he could have shrunk but "Cassius" overall has been good and is growing into an excellent player at this level.

I think East would make a good midfield player,

He has space, energy has got a good pass in in,

He also has played in midfield before so it is not playing him out of position,

BUT

With Hurst bringing in Robinson I do not see him playing Danny there.

Interesting idea and one that should not be discounted and it would also mean Richard Tait (who has done nothing wrong) at RB.

Dear oh dear people are making Robinson sound like a world beater. He was junk.

If Hurst doesn't put Clay back in he wants shooting

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

And you've arrived at that conclusion after one game?

You were probably calling Clay junk this time last year, like most others.

Quite.

You dont play 30 games in a promoted Luton team if you're 'junk'.
