I thought I saw him with the squad on BT Sport tonight, maybe me seeing things.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Still leaving Monkhouse in and dropping his second highest scorer completely hmmmm seems to be obvious why we never get beyond the playoffs when you read that   at least he's playing Pearson

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

I thought monkhouse had a good last 2 games. Also bogle hasn't exactly been setting the league alight for a while.

In my view the Bogle rant on Twitter maybe showed he needed to be taken out of the firing line.  He's one for the future.

We don't look it. Obvious whos higher in the league. I'll settle for 0-1

Christ you all wanted him sacked a few months ago. 6th place finish and he's now the messiah and can do no wrong
Update:  I think I've got this right - He was the messiah. He then wasn't. He then was again. Then it turned out he actually wasnt. He turned into one big huge messiah again. Now he's not actually the messiah we thought he was . Now I'm hoping he rises again quickly

Listening on Humberside directly off the Humbs site. The main BBC commentary page has two links to Radio Glos despite labelling one Radio Humbs.

The wind seems to be playing a big part. VGR havent had a decent effort yet we've only had two its a very dull match

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

We need to stop giving away free kicks which give them chance to get the big lads forward...

Fans are brilliant!!  Noisy, irreverent, profane, anarchic!

I can see Hoban being a decent player in the way Palmer was last season and maybe what we've been missing.  Having Pearson back in the defence seems to have brought things back to basics again with him and Gowling doing the simple things well.

Let's hope we can kick on in the second half!

Bit harsh mate. Both defences on top. But doesn't make it a bad game.

Defences well on top, McKeown needs to vary his clearances, Hoban unlucky with his shot, hope that the crowd will push us higher in the 2nd half.

A scrappy 1-0 would do me tonight - crap pitch conditions, odd dodgy decisions against Town, plenty of graft, not too much real skill.

Onwards and upwards ! No silly mistakes !

Good description.........watching at home as I had to cash my tickets in last weekend due to a 2pm meeting in the East End. Town fans sound great ...........shame the commentators won't stop talking and are completely "one eyed".

I hope VGR don't score as if they do Virgo will be kissing their backside something chronic.

As a team we have lost our way since Xmas. Should be a settled side by March and we are playing like strangers. Ok, new loan signings in but are they significantly better than we've had all season. We've got no midfield at all. Monkhouse, what does he offer. Nolan sharp going forward but all over the place and light defensively. Disley is looking his age. Not made a tackle or pass to his own player all half and not getting up and down the pitch. Defensively sound and right hand side strong. We are playing the long ball because our midfield is not good enough. This is not our best eleven by a long way. Not even sure 4-4-2 is right for the squad we've got or the conditions. Hope we win tonight and get promoted but this does not look like a promotion side that this manager has taken five years to put together. In the pre match interview Hurst said we've had a good season. He just doesn't get it does he? I hope I'm wrong but I think he's out of his depth.

Pearson in charge - leading
McKeown handling well
Tait playing Frear pretty well.
After that - not much really.
There needs to be a shift in gear in the second half.

Stay away from the razor blades, high buildings and sleeping tablets............and start supporting the team rather than sounding suicidal whilst we are 0 - 0 away to the side above us.

BTW what is our best 11/shape?

Our distribution from defence is abysmal. We hump it up in the air and hope it doesn't come back to us. Unfortunately FGR haven't read our script. Our one decent chance came when the ball was played to Hoban's feet....so that must be why we're intent on giving it airspace every other time? Shocking tactics, if that's what they are?

Disley proving the doubters wrong, again.

Look at that playing ths ball on the floor direct into space and we have come alive who would if thought it

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Yeah don't disagree mate TBH, who would you have in the midfield with Dis and the 3 up front?

Dis scores. LOL.

4-3-3 Disley sitting in front of back four covering full backs bombing on. Clay in to break up play and Nolan as playmaker. Arnold, Bogle/Hoban and Amond up front.

3-5-2 same 3 midfield, Tait on right Arnold left. Bogle/Hoban up front with Amond. Pearson, Gowling, Toto back three.

I don't think the quality of this league is all that this season and we've underachieved through changing the side around and unsettling the dressing room.

I really hope my gut feeling is wrong and we do get promoted.

Not to wade into the "Our fans are better than your fans" thing, but for saying that VGR were going into this with a chance to go top and really turn the screw on Cheltenham, their fans were SHEEEEE-ITE.

Not a peep from them to get behind their team and a urine-poor turnout.

Yep. Podge should've made it game over. .  By his standards a sitter.  Lovely movement to give him so much time in the box though.

This is why they score so many late goals.  They've got a lot of quality to bring on, almost like a special attack team to hunt down a late goal.

Got to be happy with that. Macca didn't have a serious shot to save and we had all the best chances. The only frustration for me is that we can go there and win but we lose games like Halifax away. 2 or 3 more wins and we'd be right in the mix now.

A proper defensive away performance from us and their only chance was the long lump into the box, hoping for something to fall their way. FGR highly unimpressive yet again. Frustrating that they can be consistently just above average and this has been good enough for them to be well ahead of us.

A pity we didn't do more going forward at points in the game and we weren't nearly ruthless enough with those chances after the goal. Not convinced that Hoban is the answer up front - he can certainly hold it up if the ball comes straight into his feet and he had a couple of decent efforts, but he's slow as hell and didn't exactly run his socks off. Need better crosses into the box if he's to score some goals, I'd have thought.

An immense solid performance by Town. One of the best centre back pairings in this league stopped FGR in their tracks. FGR tried the direct ball game, and testing us from set plays, but Pearson and Gowling were rocks.  Good to have kept their decent players like Marsh-Brown and Frear quiet.  We also worked their keeper a few times.

Town looked dangerous on the break and played some reasonable football on an absolute pudding of a pitch.  We should've made it 2-0 when Podge had a good chance.  Hoban looks a very useful acquisition and a good debut from him, holding up the ball well and also forcing their keeper into a good save.

Totally agree ginnywings, you get that shambles at Halifax away and then they go and win at one of the most in form and free-scoring teams in the league.  Supporting Town can be unpredictably infuriating and joyous at the same time.

Fair play and respect to Ady Pennock for giving us credit for our performance.  No sour grapes from him and an open and reasoned assessment of the game and the title challenge.

Safe journey back to all the fans who made it down there.

Isn't that just the answer though. FGR are consistent(ly adequate). If we've got the best central defenders in the league, it takes that to stop them - other sides don't have our assets.

FGR have got a lot of tall players in their squad and now it's clear why they score so many late goals.  Even if Parkin (6 ft 4) is not being effective (which is rare), the 3 subs they put on tonight were Williams 6 ft 2, Guthrie 6 ft 3 and Moore 6 ft 5. .  Town have got the personnel to deal with those sort of players.  Pearson and Gowling would run through brick walls for the cause.  It also helps by experienced players defending well, not giving away any dangerous free kicks, and nullifying quality players in terms of stopping the ball getting in the box in the first place.

Credit goes to Paul Hurst were it is due: it was a solid and professional performance by Town who did their homework on the style FGR play.
