Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby be next season?

We are Town!
We are Town!

Town Rescue Point

GRIMSBY came from two goals down to earn a point in the home game with Colchester. Poor defending saw the Mariners go into the half-time break 2-0 down. However, an early Hanson second-half penalty gave Town hope and Green's late strike sent most of the home crowd home happy.

Sebastian Ring was the only change coming in at left-back, which shuffled Luke Hendrie to right-back and Elliott Hewitt moving into the right side of midfield.

Town had most of the early possession with the best chance falling to Moses Ogbu who failed to make the most of a dangerous cross by Ring. Waterfall then had a header over from a corner.

Town gave the ball away for the opener and it fell to Nouble who powered home a fierce strike past McKeown.

McKeown kept the lead down to one with a fantastic reaction save to deny Luke Norris’s powerful header.

Just before half time, Colchester doubled the lead. Nouble this time was the provider, crossing the ball to Norris who reacted quicker than the two defenders around him to head the visitors into a 2-0 lead.

Town hit back almost straight away when Ogbu was manhandled to the floor inside the penalty box and Hanson stroked the ball into the centre of the goal after the keeper had dived to his right.

Town didn't look like scoring from open play, but they did look dangerous from set-pieces. Ogbu had Town's best chance in the second half but shot wide from distance when he had more time.

The equaliser came from a late free kick which was cleared and fell to Green who lashed it into the Pontoon goal.

Grimsby had had most of the possession, but Colchester were clinical and punished their mistakes.
