Silence!

Silence!

News From 18th July 2000

New ground

Since Thursday's decision from North East Lincolnshire Council not to amend the local plan to allow the new ground development to go ahead, there has been a wall of silence from those councillors who voted against the scheme.

There is no point reporting other news from Blundell Park as this is the only story Grimsby football fans are interested in.

The Fishy is calling for a second vote from the council to reconsider their decision. That the council's decision undoubtedly stands on dubious legal grounds is clear as it does not carry the support of local opinion. A second meeting and a new vote would avoid having to take this to the courts at yet more expense to the NELC council tax payer.

We are not asking for the planning permission itself to be passed with no objections, merely for the local plan, a statement of the local population's intent to be amended.

After that the more detailed scrutiny of the Planning Committee can thoroughly consider the logistics of the proposal. Then we can see if our club's intentions comply with all the regulations.

The silence has got to end! It's over to you councillors.
