Friendly Game Arranged

Grimsby have arranged a friendly game against Huddersfield Town in order to have a look at their three foreign trialists. The game was planned for today but is now subject to Huddersfield being able to get to the fixture with the current petrol crisis and road blockages by protestors.

The game at Blundell Park is behind closed doors which will give Lennie Lawrence the opportunity to assess the trial players who joined the club this week and Jason Batty the New Zealand goalkeeper. Eyes will be on Sascha Lenhart the German striker/left winger in particular as Town looks for a solution to their goal famine with Moises a defender also in the spotlight. This will be an important game for them as they are due to leave Grimsby soon and they need to show their worth in this game. Jason Batty is reported to have performed very well so far and this outing will provide him with an opportunity to show his talents also. With Gallimore, Handyside and Donovan looking to regain full match fitness, it was no surprise to learn that they too will be included in the team. This will be an important test of their fitness with Town missing some of their best players. Wayne Burnett returns to the club this week after his stay at Lileshall. A club spokesman stated that they had not yet received a report on Wayne but are hopeful that he will return to football. Although there will be more trialists coming in, Lennie Lawrence will be restricting them to two or three at a time because of the difficulties in assessing them. Lennie, in the meantime, continues his search for a loan player. Although he feels that it would be better to take a player on loan to see if he fits in with the team, he has not ruled out a straight transfer. "If I find a player at a reasonable price who can make a difference I will sign him."
