Zirgzdauskas Factfile

Central defender Tomas Zirgzdauskas is another foreign player to join Grimsby Town on trial. He is expected to arrive at Blundell Park this week. We have now obtained some details of his career and his playing ability.

He was born born 18th March 1975 which makes him 25. Height: 186cm. Weighs 75 kilo's. He has played in the Lithuanian League since he was 17 His first club was Zalgiris Vilnius (Zalgiris Wilno) He has also played with Gelezinis vilkas Vilnius, and Neris Vilnius. Later he played in Denmark for Naestved BK, which is where Lennie Lawrence might first have spotted him based on his Danish connections. At the beginning of 1997 he signed for Polonia Warsaw where he is coming from on trial. Zvirgzdauskas has played 19 international matches in the Lithuanian national team mainly as a defender. He is looking to secure a place in an English club as he wishes to play in English football and is described as a player who has pace, is a playmaker and can defend solidly although his best position is in midfield.
