Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Thursday News Round-up

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 19/10/2000

Peter Taylor, Leicester City's manager has agreed to extend the loan of midfielder Stuart Campbell for a further month but Town boss Lennie Lawrence is hoping to keep him at Grimsby for the rest of the season.

He said. "We have some time to try and sort out a season long move. He qualifies for that type of deal and I really want to try and get something worked out that will see him staying around after Christmas."

Trial Players

Thomas Zvigzdauskas, from Legia Warsaw in Poland, is expected to arrive in Grimsby this week and will play for the reserves against Lincoln City at Blundell Park next Wednesday. He will be joined by another un-named trialist who will be playing in the same game.

Scottish midfielder Neil Murray who trained with the Mariners last week may also be playing but Grimsby are still waiting for his international clearance which is expected early next week.

Richard Smith

Richard Smith is battling against injury and has not trained so far this week but is hoping to play in the game against Lincoln. Smith has a groin problem that is linked to the back injury that has kept him out of the game since January.
