Bert & Fred

The Nielsen Debate

FRED:
I caught that cold from you, you know.

BERT:
Get lost I caught it from you

FRED:
Anyway we missed Nielsen's super game against QPR

BERT:
Yeah but I saw him against Huddersfield.

FRED:
So is he the new town saviour? Is he the man to raise the GTFC phoenix from the ashes?

BERT:
He is a terrific find to be sure. He has excellent pace and ball skills.

FRED:
I can't remember our last pacy player. Tony Ford maybe?

BERT:
He has strength and can jump a fair bit too.

FRED:
Hmmm, a touch of Paul Wilko or Kev Drinkell there then.

BERT:
He's also a crowd pleaser with his smiles and urges to the crowd and his appreciation of them at the end of a game.

FRED:
A bit of Ivano thrown in too then. Blimey he sounds like everything we want. Can he score goals too?

BERT:
Well he's got one and has made at least one more so that's a start.

FRED:
Is there a down side?

BERT:
He was apparently out of it at Blackburn, but then most of the front line were

FRED:
So why don't we sign him?

BERT:
I guess it's a case of enjoy his loan period and don't pay out until we have to.

FRED:
That assumes he'll sign for us when the loan is over. What if another club comes in?

BERT:
Like who?

FRED:
Well Huddersfield, QPR and Palace have seen him and they must be thinking if he's that good they could nick him from under our noses. They can offer bigger money than us in wages alone.

BERT:
Maybe we're waiting to see if the EU transfer saga makes a difference. We'd be daft to sign him if transfer fees were scrapped a month later.

FRED:
We'd be dafter if he became the fans hero and dragged us up to mid-table only for us to lose him the West Brom cos we tried to save a few bob.

BERT:
Lets hope it doesn't happen. For now though if he keeps going he can put a couple of thousand on the gates.

FRED:
Lets hope it happens. We deserve it after three years of excitement starvation.

BERT:
Lets not forget too though, that a couple of good games don't mean he is the best thing since sliced bread. One swallow doesn't make a summer.
