Fostervold Interview II

Today I conducted another interview with my fellow countryman Knut Anders Fostervold, the left-sided defender from the Norwegian club Molde FK, who recently came to Blundell Park for a one week trial. Sadly it looks as though Lennie Lawrence's coffers can only stretch as far as Nielsen.

The Town manager has been trying to get Fostervold on loan from Norway, but Molde are keen to get the transfer money straight away, and have turned down all the offers from Blundell Park to date. Nevertheless Fostervold was glad when I told him that the Grimsby fans would like to see him at the club. Otherwise he seemed very unsettled, and he didn't know what was most likely to happen.

"Unfortunately I have the impression that the money is the problem at the moment." said Knut Anders. "They were very keen on a loan deal, and then to wait for the Perugia-judge [the EU transfer decision]. Also of course they wanted to see what I was like as a player over a longer period of time. It seems like they want to be 110% sure before they spend their money, which is understandable.

"For me it would have been best and most secure to sign a long term contract, after all I would have to move my entire family over the North Sea. But of course a loan is better than nothing.

"Grimsby is still my first choice as I enjoyed myself so much there, but I'm honest enough to admit that I am looking for other clubs in England who can offer me a permanent deal

"As I say the first impression of the club and the environment makes Grimsby my preference, but I have started to get the impression from the club that they do not have real belief in me. Given that I'm not so sure about how smart it would be to move over there."
