Striker Search Renewed

It has been a never-ending story the search for a striker. In his search for the missing link in the Mariners line up, Lennie Lawrence's travels look like an advert for Cook's Tours. From China to Scandinavia, Europe and now back to Britain the chase continues.
With news that Steve Livingstone will be out until the end of March, there is new impetus to the search.
"What Livvo's injury has done has made the search even more crucial" "I'm going to have to get somebody in" "Before, I was looking for a pacy striker, now I'm going to have to change my tack" said Lawrence today.
With Michael Jeffrey and Jonathan Rowan being the only fit front men he has, with Bradley Allen and Daryl Clare still not match fit, Lawrence indicated to the Grimsby Telegraph that he has little option but to grab the first available player he can find. "I have got to look for someone like Livvo," he said. "It won't be 'I want this one or that', it will be who we can get" "I need a body"
As the search hots up it also becomes more difficult with clubs not wanting to loan players at this time of the season and Lennie's search so far has not brought any hopeful news. "We have looked at all types of strikers and drawn a blank" But he is still hopeful adding "Now we have to look again and hope some people have a change of mind or that situations have changed" "We've still got a few irons in the fire"
The fans will be pleased to hear that! The search for a striker has been bad news so far particularly after the Nielsen saga with the priority changing frequently in relation to the fitness of players. It is now obvious that in Grimsby Town's position, the addition of another front man is paramount without regard to the availability of current squad members. Now is not the time to be taking chances.
With Lennie Lawrence having connections that brought us Nielsen, Campbell, Enhua and Willems there is no doubt that he will be twisting a few arms over the next few days! It will be a great relief to all if he can finally fulfil this need. With the game against Barnsley only a few days away he faces an uphill battle.
