Stopping the Rot

ARTICLES have been flooding in by desperate Grimsby fans concerned about their team's slide down the First Division table. In a new series "Stopping the Rot" we look at YOUR ideas on what should be done to improve the situation.

Tim Marshall: Time to Act?

So, the slide continues and Town find themselves in the bottom four. hardly the confidence booster needed before a David v Goliath clash at Highbury on Tuesday. The writing is on the wall for a Town side, who, judging by the opinions of many of our supporters, lack enthusiasm, determination and most importantly, direction.

Is it any wonder one asks oneself? One result has bought LL time but how long can we harp on about Liverpool when we continue to slide helplessly down the table? I have nothing against the guy but if the rot has clearly set in and now, I believe, is the time to act...Do it any later, say after Christmas, and it gives very little time for change. I want to see Town in the First division next year and if we carry on like this it isn't looking like it's going to happen..

Andy Weeks: What Could be Done

I know that Grimsby Town are short on cash, however I still believe things can be done to improve the situation. Town should try to have a informal link with a premier club such as Leeds. This would mean Leeds could loan out to us their most promising youngsters for experience or pros who are out of the team to Grimsby who will benefit from the class of such players, in return Leeds could have first choice to player town want to sell.

Another idea to improve the team is to play a diamond shape in midfield as at the moment we don't have any natural wingers. To escape the "Grimsby Mentality" Town could try hiring a sport psychologist to implement motivation ideas. I hope these ideas may promote improvement in my team.
