Nigel Batch | 1978-1983 | 403 (0) | 0 goals |
Released by Derby County for being too small at 5ft 10, Nigel was signed by Tom Casey in 1976 and spent the following two seasons as understudy to Harry Wainman. But when Harry broke his arm in training, Nigel took his chance and went on to play 224 consecutive games for the Mariners. He then went on to play 348 league appearances over 10 years.
In 1986 Batch went on a free transfer to Lincoln then followed Dave Booth to Darlington, and had a spell on loan at Stockport County. When he retired from football he went into the pub trade.
