Town Pair to Face Italy!

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 30/09/2002

GRIMSBY duo Danny Coyne and Darren Barnard have been called up to the Wales squad to play Italy in a Euro 2004 qualifier at the Millennium Stadium Cardiff on October 16. With the fixture falling in midweek, no Town game will be affected,

Coyne missed the last International call-up to Finland, after going down with a 'flu virus in the days preceding, and will be hoping for better fortune on this occasion, although his country won 2-0 without Town's chief asset.

Darren Barnard, who was in the squad, but did not feature in the game against the Finns, will be looking to add to his tally of 18 caps for Wales.

Full Squad: P Jones (Southampton), M Crossley (Middlesbrough), D Ward (Nottingham Forest), D Coyne (Grimsby), D Barnard (Grimsby), M Delaney (Aston Villa), R Weston (Cardiff), D Gabbidon (Cardiff), R Page (Sheffield United), A Melville (Fulham), P Trollope (Northampton), A Johnson (West Brom), G Speed (Newcastle), C Robinson (Portsmouth), M Pembridge (Everton), S Davies(Tottenham), R Savage (Birmingham), J Koumas (West Brom), P Evans (Bradford), J Hartson (Celtic), R Earnshaw (Cardiff), G Taylor (Burnley), C Bellamy (Newcastle), N Blake (Wolves), R Giggs(Manchester United).
