The Fishy - Grimsby Town FC

Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Left Backs to the Wall

GRIMSBY boss Paul Groves is facing a crisis at left-back with vice captain Tony Gallimore ruled out for the next three matches because of suspension.

Gallimore saw red during the match against Nottingham Forest at Blundell Park late last month and the club decided there were no grounds for an appeal. As a result the defender will have to sit out three crucial games.

The Town manager may turn to youngster Iain Ward as a stop-gap left-back. He does however have the option of using Darren Barnard in that role, although that might mean that he would have to sacrifice the attacking potential that the former Barnsley man offers.

  • STEVE Chettle is out of next weekend's clash with Reading as a result of the back injury that forced him out of the win over Brighton.

Chettle has fought an ongoing battle with a back problem for several years and normally a spell of rest, physiotherapy and a visit to his favourite chiropractor does the trick.

But after limping out of the 3-0 defeat against his former club Forest recently, the troublesome condition is proving more difficult to cure this time around.

The experienced defender will not train this week but is hoping to be in contention in time for the rearranged First Division fixture at home to Ipswich Town in a week's time
