Question of the Week

Who will win League 2?

Spilling The Beans!

THE following article is a report of a conversation that took place with Terry Cooke. We have held the article some weeks until the end of the season. Some more serious comments have been withheld.

At Rotherham on Tuesday I had a good half hour chat with a very unhappy Terry Cooke before the game. He was obviously very unhappy about a number of things and was very open and frank about the situation.

He said that he didn't know why Groves didn't pick him for the First XI or even the reserves. He wanted to go out on loan but Groves said "No".

He did say that when it rains they often spend an hour driving around Grimsby looking for somewhere to train, which highlights the poor facilities we have.

"John Oster is only here for himself and when he sods off, Grovesie will expect me to be match fit even though I haven't kicked a ball in 5 weeks."

He was annoyed that Coldicott trained for 2 days and was back on the bench whilst he wasn't considered at all.

The only person on the coaching staff who has any idea about tactics/training was Paul Wilkinson. Groves and Rodger's training sessions are "a joke".

When they have practice matches in training, "the first team can't get the ball off the youngsters."

"The midfield is nothing without Pouton and that there is no way that Grimsby will stay up."

"As a player Groves is past it!"

"There is no pace in the midfield, which is why our attacks often break down."

"Simon Ford tries too many clever balls for a defender."

"Santos has been the only thing between us, and a lot of thrashings."

"I am fed up with having to travel to every away game and not even being on the bench." END

The season is over now and with changes taking place with players leaving and new players coming in, it is all history now but it does indicate that in football, as in everything else, things are not always as rosy as they seem.

Some of the comments made do coincide with some of those made by Fishy subscribers during the season. But one has to bear in mind that this is one player's view and we have not sought any official reply to his comments.
