Luke Cornwall

Striker loaned from Fulham in the 00/01 season as the lack of strikers at the club looked capable of seeing us relegated. Made his debut against Wimbledon and whilst showing the pace which we lacked, didn’t do an awful lot. The following games suggested he wasn’t the man to fire us away from danger at all.

That all changed in the second half against Tranmere though, with Town 1-0 down Cornwall was paired with sub Steve Livingstone up front. With Livvo’s help Cornwall grabbed a brace in the 3-1 win which started a mini-run that was so badly needed. The next game Cornwall grabbed the only goal in the 1-0 win at promotion chasing West Brom, a powerful volley that was one of the high points in a pretty crap season.

Cornwall was rumoured to be set for a permanent switch to Town that summer but Lennie Lawrence eventually opted for Phil Jevons. With a loan spell at Lincoln failing to prove worthwhile, Cornwall was left to rot in Fulham’s reserves before a free transfer to Bradford City this summer.
