Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

October Player of the Month Winner

By: Tony Hamilton
Date: 18/11/2003

THANKS for all the votes The Fishy received for October’s Player of the Month vote, and here are the votes for the six nominations.

So this month’s winner is Mike Edwards. Since his debut the former Hull defender has proven what a bargain he was when Town signed him in the summer. After Peter Taylor’s arrival Mike found himself surplus to requirements after over 250 games for the Tigers, and a few Hull fans were totally surprised when he was released, but their loss is our gain.

So when Simon Ford was injured, after a poor debut playing out of position deputising for Wales-bound Darren Barnard at left back, Mike reverted to his proper position and hasn't looked back since, showing the Town fans what he is capable of playing at centre back. Only on a one-season contract if he carries on this form it will be inevitable that he deserves another contract at Blundell Park - it would be fully deserved as well.
