Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Best Auction Yet From GTFC!

IT was without doubt the most special day in Grimsby Town's history - the very first time that the Mighty Mariners graced the pitch at the famous Wembley Stadium.

For years Town fans had had to survive on the rapidly fading 'almosts' of 1936 and 1939 when Town ALMOST made it to Wembley.

But suddenly in 1998, it was first a dream, then a possibility, then - suddenly - a reality that few had dared imagine would happen.

Town's first visit to Wembley in the Auto Windscreens Shield Final versus the friendly Bournemouth club couldn't have been better. For many the result didn't matter, even before the outset, it was the occasion, and just seeing Town's favourites on the pitch!

But the drama that unfolded as Town first went behind, then drew level was just a preliminary to that unbelievable finish. With the 'Golden Goal' rule in operation, nothing but NOTHING could ever match the winner scored almost nonchalantly by Wayne Burnett. NOTHING will ever surpass the sheer elation of the 30,000 travelling army from Grimsby. And never again can we break our duck at the country's foremost stadium!

Now, through the Mariners' Official Site, YOU could bid for a ball signed by both teams on the day, to be an everlasting reminder of the time Town went to Wembley for the first ever time. It'll be a golden reminder of a golden day, ending with a golden goal!

But This Is The One!

But this will probably be your only opportunity to get your hands on this very special item!

You could be the one to make the golden bid!
