Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Back Where We Started!

AFTER this poor season matched with last season's as well, we are back where we started 10 years ago. Just look at the amount of managers and players we have gone through.

The main problem we've had in the last few years is being a small club and having few supporters coming through the turnstiles, and having chairmen who run our beloved football club like a hobby instead of a PLC.

Remember the likes of Ramsden who used his boardroom majority as a bargaining ploy meaning you do as I say or I pull my loans from the Club, or Huxford who let Lennie Lawrence bring in foreigners who only wanted to line their own pockets who had no loyalty and no back bone when it came down to Grimsby Town as their employers.

Don't forget the ITV Digital saga either, where the Football League sold their membership down the river because they couldn't negotiate themselves out of a paper bag.

This summer as we go down to Division Three, the directors that run our club have got to take the blame for the plight of GTFC. Why did they give Groves the job in the first place, as the longer he had the job, the further Town were going down the league? So let's face it they might have helped us in stopping the Club going into administration but they are to blame for what we've all seen this season in our home games.

Now that our major shareholder John Fenty has sold his fish business will he invest more money in the Club to help us bounce back to Division 2 as it's his decisions that have put us there? Will he bring in an experienced manager who can make us a football club again instead of us being mocked season after season?

Hopefully most of our underachieving players will be released, as they are a total disgrace to their profession because it's them who should take the blame for the Club's predicament. Now that summer is almost upon us, it gives Grimsby Town three months to sort itself out and hopefully have a good season next time round.
