Slade Names Target

NEW Town boss Russell Slade has revealed that former Leeds and Notts County striker Tony Hackworth is one of his targets. The 24-year-old front man has just been released by County, having joined the Meadow Lane outfit for a fee of £120K from Leeds three years ago.

Russell Slade is familiar with Hackworth as the Durham-born forward spent the latter part of last season on loan with the Seasiders, where he made 11 appearances in the Conference, scoring 3 goals. Slade told Radio Humberside that Hackworth had "done well at Scarborough" and was definitely on his target list, although he expected there to be some competition.

Hackworth made three starts for Leeds in his first season at Elland Road, two of which were in the Champions League against Barcelona and Lazio. His career was then interrupted by a cruciate ligament injury, and he ended up going to Meadow Lane, scoring just 1 goal in 17 league starts.
