GRIMSBY Town boss Russell Slade has rubbished talk of a rift between himself and his former Scarborough chairman, Malcolm Reynolds.

Reynolds had reportedly "been left fuming after an apparent illegal approach for Boro midfielder Scott Kerr by the Mariners".

Slade said: "I have spoken to Malcolm and cleared things up - it has just been a mix-up."

I wonder why that statement has been issued?

I hope this is not Town's method of denying that illegal approaches were made to a Scarborough player. Not that anyone cares.

Players get talked to every day without their respective club's knowledge. In fact, it is so frequent that one wonders why the FA and the Football League even make rules to prevent it.

A club may speak to an agent, but cannot speak to the player.

According to the Scarborough official site; "Chairman Reynolds is considering reporting Grimsby Town to the FA for their continued illegal attempts to unsettle star midfielder Scott Kerr."

That was a couple of weeks ago now so is old news. So why is Mr Slade talking about it today?

I hope those busybodies from the FA are not snooping around.

Incidentally, in our report no mention was made of a rift, we just reported the facts so where did the OS get the idea that there were rumblings of one?

No one cares Mr Slade. Even if you have to go out and press gang them. As long as they can do the job, we are not like that oity toity Mariners Net, we will stand by you!!
