Farewell Phil Jevons

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 18/06/2004

PHIL Jevons has left Blundell Park for Yeovil, signing a two year deal. This will be a bitter disappointment for fans as Jevons would have been a major figure in the squad in the third division.

Yeovil manager Gary Johnson told his official website "Phil was my first target and I'm pleased to say that we have agreed terms and Phil will be joining us on a two year contract."

"There was no transfer fee involved, he was a Bosman from Grimsby Town. He was a young superstar at Everton and he broke into in the Premier League side. He then moved to Grimsby for £250,000 but was in dispute with the club in the early part of last season, but in the second half of the season he scored a few goals and got voted player of the year."

"Phil is a cleaver goal scorer, a guy that runs with the ball. I am very happy to have acquired his services. He is an exciting player for our fans and we shall be seeing Phil at Huish Park on 1st July."

Jevons said; "I'm delighted and I'm really excited about joining Yeovil Town. The potential of the club is huge and I'm really impressed with what Gary Johnson and the Chairman are trying to do down there. I am going to move down with my girlfriend as soon as possible."

"We will try and get everything sorted up here before we do move and then I'm going away for a week to Portugal to watch the football. I might meet up with Gary Johnson while I am over there."
