Thursday's News Round-Up

RUSSELL Slade is once again hoping to bring in an experienced striker on loan in time for Tuesday's match with Notts County.

The Mariners do not have a fixture this weekend as the Second Round of the FA Cup is taking place.

  • Greg Young has returned to Conference outfit Northwich Victoria on a month's loan. With Simon Ramsden and Terrell Forbes likely to be available soon and ahead of the former Owl in the pecking order, Young is not likely to be required at the club in the near future. The left-sided defender had a month on loan with the Cheshire club earlier in the season.

  • Graham Hockless has himself ruled out the possibility of going on loan for a further month. The Hull-born youngster was at Leigh RMI earlier in the season, but told Radio Humberside: "I personally believe I am good enough to be part of this squad. I'd rather be here where the manager can see me every day and hope that sooner or later I'll get a chance".

  • Chester City are lining up a big money move to lure former Town striker Phil Jevons away from Yeovil. The ex-Evertonian has scored 13 goals in just 18 league games for the Somerset club.
